Interesting that this report didnt mention that Samoa is made up of two major islands, East and West, western Samoa is known as Samoa and Eastern Samoa is known as American Samoa (they have a major military presence their since WWII) and the two islands, only a stones throw apart use different currency (Samoan dollas=West and US dollars=East) so did both islands move or just one? I cant believe that the US would allow their island to change? If not then the date line must have some serious kink in it.

Love to know what they did.

Cheers, Dennis.

I was there in May 1990 shortly after an earthquake so not the best time to visit.
Nice place.

Wikipedia says <i>"This is anticipated to help the nation boost its economy by doing business with China, Australia and New Zealand. Currently, Samoa is 21 hours behind Sydney, but the change will mean they are three hours ahead."</i>.
But still there are a few hours time difference that won't change due to geographical location.
Some day the whole world will apply the same timezone and only differ in 'business hour zones' due to geographic locations.
E.g. Samoa business hours (UTC) 21-5 hrs, Sydney 23-7 hrs, W Europe 8-16 hrs.
