I hate clouds . Only one cloud free morning over the last week. After cursing at the sky over the last couple of days, I was finally able to image Lovejoy this morning.
This is a combination of 10 x 60sec shots using a Canon 400D, 18mm, f4.5, ISO1600. Needed a faster lens. Oh well...
This will be the last time I will go out and look at Lovejoy so I say farewell. Thanks for the memories and I will always have IIS to remember the show you put on for us.
Nice work Dan, I'll be heading up north tonight for possibly my last view of the comet. Most likely head between Morgan and Burra, for flat horizon and no light domes in the comets direction. Well that's the theory anyway...

Thanks all. Yeah it's faded dramatically. I was still able to see it naked eye (only till about 4.15am). Averted vision enabled me to see a bit more of the tail.
I was able to glimpse the comet for two days before Xmas. The 23rd was the most annoying. One thin bank of cloud came up from the SW during the hour needed to see the comet. Any other time and I would have been able to get some good images.

Oh well, back to some deep sky imaging......and a more normal sleep pattern!
Did some processing in PS to bring out a bit more detail in the tail. I still can't believe the show is pretty much over. Of course we are blessed with clear skies now.
