Lovejoy & Meteors

Howdy all Astro-liano's.

What a massive thrill to set eyes on Lovejoy in Dark skies, A heap better than the Tweed Coast ! I headed out to Rathdowny @ 1am to experiment before all of Lovejoy rose above the horizon, then gave it a full can a Canon capers : )
I decided to use the 'L' series 70-200 F2.8 Lens and quite happy with the results considering some waves of low fog at times nearby !

This image comprises of 4 landscape frames above one another @ 70mm, F/2.8. Stitch & shopped in PS3.
600D set at ISO 1600, heavy in-camera-noise-reduction.
Exposures were 60secs, tracked on an old C8 fork mount !

Hope you like.

Nice Bob. Rigley and I got up to have a look and saw that top meteor - from Tweed it cut the tail about a third of the way down - parralax I suppose between Rathdowney and the coast. Nice deep image.

Great job. I like your colours and contrast. It looks like you've just managed to capture Alpha Centauri near the top-right of the frame?
