Whiskstronomy

Hey you!, personally speaking I just had a cracker of clear sky despite the BOM, combine that with some good photos and a cracking read- Iain Banks Raw Spirit. So got me thinking.
Anyone have a wee dram before/ during/ after astronomy?
If so- Single malt/Country/ with an E/
Notice I didn't get into the Scot/Irish thing as (although I have never tasted it) other places such as Tasmania (Lark) make whisky/ey.
Just a thought whilst I finish my Macallan single malt. Just a thoug......zzzzzzzzzzhic!..zzzzzzzz zzzzzzburp!...zzzzzzzzzzz
So if you partake, have a preference, or a dislike...
welcome to Whiskronomy!!
(you gotta do something when you are taking darks)
Graham

100% with you Graham - I'm a bit of a Malt nut!
The local decent bottle shop runs regular single malt tasting afternoons where I can get to try top shelf stuff without the $100 experimental outlay.
I occasionally imbibe whilst imaging but then I start to trip over wires and make silly mistakes!
Last malt I had was a nice n' peaty Lagavulin

NOW you're talking ... Single Malts.
I'm steadily working my way around Scotland tasting as many as I can.
Currently on the shelf at home is
At 10 years I have Ardbeg, Talisker, Laphroaig, Highland Park, Auchentoshen and Glenlivet.
At 12 years I have a beautiful Oban.
Probably covered about 50 well known different distilleries now, only about 150 to go.
Also Japanese 12 Year Suntory and New Zealands own Milford 18 and 10 year from the old Wilsons Distillery now long gone.

I got some Famous Grouse blend but that was cooking whisky for the Xmas cake and does for medicinal purposes with Brown Sugar, honey, lemon, aspirin and hot water. Doesn't cure anything but you feels heaps better

And I've been known to partake a wee dram after a chill evening outside

If you want peaty try the Ardbeg or the Auchentoshen, the Three Wood if you can find it. Been through 3 different casks, Sherry, brandy and port.

I'm quite fond of the Glenlivet 12yr and on rare times the older ones when I get them. Also have lots of Glenfiddich, Talisker, Cardhu, Chivas Regal all at 12yrs in my stash as well as a 12yr Black label Johnie Walker that has been sitting there for ages. Don't mind a drop of Glayva from time to time either.

Big Whisky drinker here... all the well-known singles, plus those that are lesser known. My fav's are Bowmore and Ardbeg.

Also do high-end Tequila (not the ones you use for mixing...) My fav is El Tesoro de Don Felipe Aņejo (also a fan of Herradura Aņejo and Reposado, which are easy to find in Australia)

Don't drink much while in a session... afraid I'll get too loose and drop something
