Deep Cycle Battery for laptop?

Could anyone tell me if this deep cycle battery would be good for my little Asus Eee PC:

I need it to be able to power laptop running CDC for about 6-7 hours the most.

Can anyone recommend some other ones like from SuperCheapAuto maybe or some other shop?

The laptop battery used to last for up to 8-9 hours. And thats why I bought it, but now it lasts only for about an hour. I can get replacement laptop battery for about $70 dollars but not sure how good they are since its from Internet. Many claim its Australian website or company only when you order its from Hong Kong or China.

Thanks guys! Yea I know about old car batteries I have a few but they don't last long for what I need. They are OK for dew heaters and EK box but not enough for running little laptop.

I know about BatteryWorld and similar websites. I thought maybe someone here have experience with this problem and wouldn't mind to share it here. Anyway, I found on google how to calculate Amp and battery capacity. So that will help me in deciding what to get:

What sort of inverter a you planning to hook it up to?

I heard that sine wave inverters are to be used with lap tops
and camera battery charges-otherwise there are problems caused.

Looking at a sine wave inverter for some longer term trips,any suggestions?

Hi Criss,

I have Powertech Power Inverter bought from Jaycar a while ago for about $50 dollars. I explained to Jaycar guy that I intend to use car battery for powering my laptop and he recommended this Power Inverter.

My Asus Eee PC uses 19V 2.1 A. So according to Jaycar guy this Inverter is the best solution since it converts from 10-15 V input to 240 V and I simply plug in laptop power cord in it as in the wall power outlet.

But car battery is not designed for this kind of use and can't last more than a few hours. I visited SuperCheapAuto today and saw Century 12V 26 Ah Deep cycle battery for $129 dollars but they dont have it in stock here, maybe next week.

Similar one Jaycar got for around the same price.

Why get an inverter , just get a DC adapter with adjustable volts its much
more efficient and cheaper .

A DC to DC inverter is what you need - they're about 45 dollars and you can power your laptop all night.

As a matter of fact I was looking at the same at Super Cheap today. It was just over $200 dollars I think. I am a bit surprised they give only 6 months warranty?

Also I put the car battery from Toyota Corolla Panasonic one on the base of my 12" Bintel Dob on the side and put some wire to secure it. This one would be a bit big and heavy?

Think I will get a sine wave inverter,Those jaycar ones caused a few headaches for people over on the camping and fishing forum's when used for charging camera batteries and running lap tops.I am not willing to take the risk,Quite surprised by the amount of people on this forum with their out look and what they do with electronics-"if it start s off bad-that's where is usually ends".

When I do field trips,I'd rather have a more planned approach,and not take the cheap way out,Even if it costs a little more to begin with.Some of the set ups I've seen in astronomy camps/hunting-fishing camps over the years,are doomed right from the start-and people still wonder why they have issues
