SE QLD Pretty crummy viewing.

Isn't it aweful up here in SE Qld.
Nothing but clouds.
The forecast is for plenty more of it this Month.
My telescope hasn't been out of it's box for 2 weeks.
Bring on the winter.

It looks like we might be in for a wet winter as well if the La Nina developes as they are telling us.

Stars

And to add insult to injury, I woke at 3.00 this morning - for physiological reasons - and gazed out the window - stars EVERYWHERE! Got up at 6 - clouds again

Hopeless! Cloudy one day, overcast the next. Worst of it is that it's not even bringing rain - gonna run out of water soon.

you've hit the nail on the head there Stinky, don't mind the cloud so much if something good comes of it!

I had to buy a new set of tyres for my 4wd on monday, my old ones would get any grip in the wet, now it stopped raining, still overcast though,

I would like to have a look at saturn or jupiter soon though, missed mars cause of the weather.

Don't worry - if your tyres last until Dec' 2007 (and we get any rain in between) you'll get a nice Chrissy present with Mars in opposition on the 24th.

If there is a chance of clear skies this weekend the scope will be setup. I know the moon is prominant, but it hasn't been used since January and the gas giants and double stars will keep me busy and satisfy the appetite.

If anyone wants to join me in my backyard - send me a PM

It's surely a conspiracy by the Federal Govt and the BOM weathermen, to stop us having sickies when the night skies are clear.
Must be something to do with the new Industrial Relations laws.
Maybe the CIA are in on it too, they could be sneaking some new stuff up into orbit and don't want us seeing it yet.

or maybe I'm just

Mike

Personally I think my wife may be in on that conspiracy! I have been planing on the purchase of something a little larger, but she keeps pointing out that I am not even using the scope I do have. She seems oblivious to the several months of appalling nocturnal weather we have been having.

Got up at 3:30am this morning with not much hope, but lo and behold the sky was clear...got quite a bit of Jupiter imaging done, but seeing was pretty ordinary so not the best result...
