Due to a recent downturn in our family's financial position, I am considering selling this scope. It was bought used about four months ago and has been used twice in that time. Really don't want to sell but for the right price I may have to.
This is a Russian-made, 'built like a tank' 7-inch (178mm) Maksutov Cassegrain f/15 scope. At this focal ratio it is optimised for planetary viewing, but still very good on deep sky (field of view is usually the limiting factor).
This is the deluxe version with 1/8 wave Sital optics and an Interferometer Report. The field of view is flat and very contrasty. Stars are as close to 'pin-pricks' as you're going to get with a reflector.
It comes with:
- Nylon semi-hard case for storage/transport
- Losmandy dovetail rail
- Built-in 12V DC cooling fan plus variable fan control cable (power supply not included)
- Stellarvue 50mm finder with helical focuser, removable eyepiece and 'guidescope-style' rings
- Camera bracket (or can mount finderscope either side)
- Bintel 2" visual back (brand new)
Optional extra is a brand new ADM Losmandy-Vixen adapter I bought to use this scope on my Meade LXD75 mount. I paid $130 for this and will include for $100 extra. Like the scope, it has been used twice. It's an awesome hunk of metal - very solid.
The scope is in very good condition. Search for reviews on it and you'll find nothing but praise for its optical quality, high contrast, etc. I believe the appropriate Australian expression is it's a "you beaut" scope!
If you were to buy this scope new it would cost close to $4000. I'm asking $1800 ono.
Due to size/weight shipping would be $100 (the shipping box has an Aussie Post sticker for $100.65 for delivery to me).
Serious enquiries by PM please. I will add photos when I get the time.
Thanks
Morton
