Eta Carinae Nebula in (Ha+R)GB Light Mark II

Hi All,

After a good night sleep I've decided I don't like the look of the original version. I have blended the Ha into the Red channel to give it a natural look.

Here is version 2. I like this one much better. Say NO to Salmon colour.
The mapped colour versions are coming out the best so far, however that still WIP.

Old versions:

Yuck!

Cheers,

Smashing shot Brad. An absolute pearler.

I have a bit of a scratching head curiosity question though. Why is it only stars down to a certain size/brightness have the spider diffraction pattern? Some of the smaller stars are certainly bright enough and of a "size" to expect them to be presenting the pattern as well.

Cheers

I think you are correct Brad but colour is subjective here is a crop taken from this
http://users.bigpond.net.au/avandonk/CAR_Tal_FR.jpg

and adjusted to match your colours.
http://users.bigpond.net.au/avandonk/CARcr.jpg

this was taken with the Canon 5DH and a TAL 200k from Eltham.
Details here

The delicate nebular detail in your image is amazing. The signal to noise must be as good as it gets.

Hi Bert,

That's right its very subjective. When you had Ha into the mix it only throws things off even more.

If you want you can be very precise with G2V calibrations etc. However I'm going for visual presentation than science.

Well to double the S/N I would have to shoot 64 hours. I don't see that happening.

Cheers,
Brad

Hi Paul,

Good question. I don't know why. Maybe if I streched that data more they would pop up.

Cheers,
Brad
