Another Orion & Horse @ 200mm

Howdy Astro-lianos

Here is another humble effort from the 70-200mm @ 200mm F/2.8
Basically 6x180, 2x240secs, ISO 800, ICNR,

would like to try again with more time ? ?

A very object filled piece of sky there, perhaps a little soft, that could be due to the tracking combined with f2.8 as most lenses perform best around f8 or so ( unless it's a really expensive one ).

Right you are Clive, Yep, It was 1st light for the lens so I wasnt guiding and the Auto focus maybe a smidge off, conditions had some thin moisture up high resulting in discarding half the frames & the ones used could have been better !
I was mainly testing different objects for compositions and framing ect ! Next time, Guiding and addapting the motor focuser with hopefully better sky, should yeild a more favourable result ?

Most 70-200 F2.8 lens are unfortunately expensive... Even then stopping down helps!

I think it's a great shot and I hope to try something similar if the weather will oblige.

Not to bad at all mate if you look closely you can just make out the glowing Barnards looop Look forward to proper guiding and focus

The whole area of Orion is full of very faint nebulosity which I estimate doubling my exposure length to get some sought of hold of it ? ? Then again, some Neb Type filter may be the orthadox way of capturing it better, really not sure exactly, trial and error

Cheers Brendan, I would like another go, longer and more subs should help bring out more features, eh ?
Have a look at this other wider field ? I also captured the Larger loop,which is a milestone as well : ) It is a stitch of two single frames, upper and lower halves @ 70mm with the same Lens 3-4 mins each !

Ross, I will try this compo next time also, well as close as I can get, ive been wondering about adding in the third belt star Mintaka for a more complete aspect !? ?

Your lens has the least amount of chromatic abberation at f/4 and best resolution between f/5.6-8.0.
Stopping down that much will need you to expose ~4x longer than this shot, but it may help getting a sharper and cleaner image.
I can't wait to do the same shot with near identical equipment in the coming weeks.
