Southern Pinwheel New Version !

Captured this morning before twilight. Conditions were superb. No breeze and a very dark, transparent sky. Very few stars could be observed to twinkle.

This is a new version of M83 Southern Pinwheel - using new data. Much better than the first one.

It is a stack of 30 x 30sec ASA1600 exposures. In-camera noise reduction was on and the mirror locked up.

The difference with this one is that it helps if you keep the dew off the SN-8's corrector plate, so that light can get into the actual telescope .

Thats excellent work! The Canon 350D seems to be an excellent camera for DSO's. When you can pick individual stars out of a galaxy image, you know you are doing well

Great shot Bill. Great improvement, even the two galaxies ESO444-085 and PGC724525 to the east are much clearer

This camera rocks! and the LXD-75 SN-8 is great value. I had awful troubles with the mount when it when it came from the factory, but it all seems in order now.Smokey at Bintel was great. He went to a lot of trouble to check that the new drive was running correctly.

Yes Tony. The hairdryer is in the indispensable category. I made myself a dew shield which really does help. I've also bought a dew zapper but it came only with a 12v car plug so I'll have to go buy an adapter for it. After that I should be right for the winter. It's on its way, it was cold here the last few mornings.

The exposures were shot as RAWS, stacked in MaxDSLR and processed in ImageReady.

The camera "Rocks" and the mount doesn't, what more do you want in a setup, excellent mate.
