Dont tell me they are closing down like another astro shop in Sydney did recently? I cant believe theye'd slip up and not pay their bill, I dont think it bodes well with them. I have a 2 inch Baader UV/IR filter on order, hope they dont dissapear in the meantime
I'd always assumed the amateur astronomy industry was increasing in Australia, with good healthy competition from several shops in major capital cities, but if they start closing, then those that remain will start jacking up prices, leading to the "bad ol days" of having to import direct from the States, like I had to do with my 2 naglers, lumicon 1.25 inch nebula filter set and 6 inch F3.6 Cometracker S/N over a decade ago.

I doubt that they would go out of business after the type of service they just gave me. I ordered a small guide scope from them but they were out of stock. When their order was filled by Tasco they sent it straight off to me. Arrived packaged excellently, but they forgot the diagonal. One phone call to them and literally it was delivered next day by express post. The first thing to go would be customer service but Andrews has been excellent with their service. Fast efficient and friendly. The exact oposite of someone with their back to the wall.

My Dad spoke to Lee today about binoculars and he is aware of the problem. Didn't say what it was but it didn't sound like he was closing down.

They are probably just building up the suspense for the release of the 16" truss dobs.

lol Janoskiss. I am sure they are losing a lot of business today. We had a very difficult time finding their phone number to give them a call. I do not think they would do this on purpose, no matter what new product they are going to have.

Unrelated:

I have notice they are going to sell Televue EP's now. Sounds good to me, hopefully they will sell them much cheaper than anyone else???

They are? Where did you hear that Chris? I thought Bintel had the exclusive retail rights for Bintel in Australia.

Competition on Televue goods will be a good thing!

If lee did have problems then that would be news, his radio stuff is also there for him. I think that its a net server problem and their accounts have been mixedup or something. I wouldnt panic too much. besides if all we are raving on about is conjecture and here say then why no ask him directly! Its a bit different to york O in sydney, shut up shop in less than 9 days.

Carried away? Whatever do you mean? If all the astronomy shops closed down what would we do then? Look up without telescopes? Unheard of. We need our gear.

The cart is back and there is even a horse in front of it! There are no references to the truss dobs on the dob page (I thought there used to be), and there is "NEW! TeleVue eyepieces coming soon! All discounted!" in Eyepieces. Wow! That is good for us!!! Bintel won't be happy, but everyone else will. I hope we will soon be paying closer to US prices for Televue EPs.
