Astromist

Hi All,

Astromist ( http://www.astromist.com/ ) has finally released full scope control for IPAD/IPHONE versions.

Many of the interface elements do not match up to SkySafari and other packages but it does have a lot of detail information and capabilities for observation sessions.

Most interestingly it has a feature that allows the software to take over full guiding of an Equatorial Mount.

Supposedly you can setup the mount without needing to do a full polar alignment then do a 2-star and/or N-Star alignment which will then allow you to do goto's. Similar to a Meade or Celestron SCT fork mount goto arrangement.

This could perhaps be useful for quick setup visual use only sessions.

Also the N-Star alignment can be used to improve pointing and tracking of Equatorial Mounts that have already be fully Polar aligned.

I plan to test both scenarios out to see if there is any advantage in either.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone has already tried it or is planning to as well.
