My Trap with a Toucam

Hi guys and gals.

I captured these avi's on the 11th January, but never got around to processing them.

I used the ToUcam at 5fps and 1/25s exposure with high gain to bring out the nebula.

The second shot is with less gain to make the E & F stars less bloated.

The avi was aligned and stacked in registax, and some curves and levels were adjusted in photoshop. A final run through NeatImage with a 25% noise reduction to smooth it out a bit.

They were taken with my 10" dob on an EQ platform, with the ToUcam at newt prime focus (1250mm FL).

Thanks

Nice capture Mike. Easily resolves stars E and F. I have generally noted that the 10" dobs seem to produce better captures of the Trap than my C9.25. Could be faster f ratio and/or smaller central obstruction?

Cheers

Dennis

always like the trap. it is a reassuing part of the sky to test your optics "can you see 6 stars" = how good is your collimation and mirror temp?? in my mind.

plus it is nice to see those fainter stars
