Anyone know when the All View mount would be available?

Hi all,

Does anyone know when the Skywatcher/Celestron All view mount would be available in Australia?

Thanks for showing that. It looks like a fantastic product.

A competitor for the recent Losmandy unit that seems similar.

Greg.

It seems it doesn't support field de-rotation (necessary for Alt-Az to do astro-photography).
Not very useful for longer exposures away from celestial equator in the direction towards north (where field rotation is minimal), unless it can be used as equatorial mount (by means of the wedge).

I was thinking to use it more for time lapse photography and a portable mount for a solar/lunar scope... It would be interesting to see if it has the same electronics as the current range of Multifunction mounts.

Do you guys think that using the existing model Orion Teletrack it would be possible with the use of an L bracket to mount the scope, so the scope will miss the teletrack base, such as the edited image below? Scope and mount images only used as reference, real scope and mount would look slightly different.

Andrew, Ioptron make very similar alt az mounts which are great little units. I have a Mini tower and it performs faultlessly every time I use it. Reasonably priced as well with a good solid tripod. You just need to add a Vixen style bar and whatever you want to image with up to 25KG. It has 2 X vixen mounting plates and can handle my Tak 120, DSLR and other bits without a problem.

Looks pretty good Paul, and I had thought of getting the IOptron Doug, but several things held me back...

One was cost, I don't have a great deal of cash to play with right now, about $500 would be my limit at this stage as I am still saving for another EQ mount. Another reason was using the Teletrack or similar unit, I can attach this to a specialised stand alone box for Timelapse photography from dynamic perception, as well as using the mount for star lapse photography during meteor showers. Anther reason for using the mount would be to throw the 80mm scope on it for lunar and solar observations/photography during events such as lunar/Solar eclipses, transits etc...

And it would be a good portable unit just to throw in the car, if I go out camping etc...

Thats why I wanted to know if the camera adapter could be used in the fashion as I have shown in the posts above.

Again thanks for your replies.
