Grus Galaxy Quartet

I'm almost a little embarrased putting this up after having just seen Greg Bradley's recent image.

But, given my level of experience I'm still pretty chuffed with this.

Shot at Border Stargaze on 26/08/2011. LRGB 100 40 40 40 through the ed120 with the Qhy9. Overall I'm pretty happy with the image and realise I probably need a lot more subs to get the really outstanding galaxy colours others have seemed to manage.

Comments / tips / suggestions greatly appreciated.

Never worry what other people post.
My gear cost a fortune so you would expect it to pick up more.

I found these galaxies don't come out very colourful straight out of the colour combine. So you may need to use the sponge tool set to saturate 2 or 3% to rub on them to bring them up.

If you are using Photoshop, Neil Fleming has a few free actions you can plug in to boost galaxy saturation etc. I didn't use them with mine but I have used those galaxy actions in the past and they work well.

Great detail Darren. I like it. Saturate those galaxies a little more and you will have a cracker. Nice scale.

Thanks Greg, I've been trying to get my processing skills back to a decent level, I have quite a number of differing versions. I will play around over the next couple of days. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks Paul, Getting the saturation point just right seems to be the go, Hopefully I will get a bit more colour over the next few processes.

I must have missed this one Darren. The galaxies look nice and well resolved for such small targets. A quick wipe with some colour will lift the galaxies that little bit and get the image jumping off the screen.
