2xBaader Hyperion 17mm

I am selling my range of Baader eyepieces because, I have to admit, I have too many with similar characteristics and I am not using these enough to justify keeping them. I tend to favour my Televues these days, so better that these go to someone who wants quality eyepieces, without TV prices.

Baader Planetarium
Hyperion 68 degree
Modular Eyepiece
Phantom Group coated
17mm
Part #2454617

Baader Product information:
  • Barrels for both 1.25 and 2 inch built in.
  • 68 degree Wideangle and long eye relief, perfectly matched to the human eye.
  • Phantom Group Multicoatings, for maximum contrast and total freedom from reflections.
  • Modular design allows adjustment of eyepiece focal length with optional fine-tuning rings {NOT INCLUDED}.
  • Adapter threads for afocal and projection photography built in. Optional threaded adapters permit attachment to practically any camera {NOT INCLUDED}.

Soft leatherette bag original packaging and two endcaps included as per photo. (There may have originally been a third (2inch) end cap, but I don't seem to have this, but never seemed to need it anyway).

Note:These were bought at different times, and note that the packaging is different, but the part number is the same on both.
I use these in my Big Binoculars (BT100) and they appear to work together OK. they can be bought as a set or individually.

Reference Information:
Best NEW price I can find for these currently is $199.00 each (from AC).
I bought these secondhand for $160.00.
They appear to be in as new condition, but are sold as is.
Inspection Welcome.

I am asking $120.00 each (plus postage) ono.
or $200.00 for the pair. (plus postage)
Pickup available Wyong area NSW Central Coast.
Paypal Preferred

Enquiries welcome by reply to this post or PM if preferred.
Thanks for looking
I am also selling 13mm, 21mm, and 24mm Baader EPs under separate threads. Discount available for multiple purchases upon request.

Price Drop

I have just been advised that an US supplier can supply Baader eyepieces to Australian customers for $129 + 16.76 postage insured.

So if anyone is interested, I will offer mine for $99 (plus $10 postage in Australia) or pickup.
Or
For the pair, say $149 (plus $16 postage in aust incl insurance)

as said earlier, these appear to be in as new condition, so I am happy to sell these with 100% money back guarantee.

thanks for looking

Not sure I understand the question.
The ep is 17mm focal length.
It basically has a 1.25 barrel, that goes into a 2 inch barrel.
The 1.25 barrel can be removed.
I am not sure if this affects the focal length of the ep.

Maybe someone with more technical knowledge could answer that.

In respect to your price enquiry, PM me with your firm "near offer" and your post code, and I will consider it.

A bit of extra information that may be an answer to your question.
(extracted from Agena Astro site (that US supplier mentioned above):
Quote:
The front negative lens element is designed to be removed (and exposes an M48 2" filter thread). This converts each Hyperion into a longer focal length high-quality projection eyepiece, giving the imager two choices of focal length with each eyepiece. NOTE: The 24mm Hyperion is a different optical design and does not contain a removable front element. However, the Front Barrel can still be removed in order to attach 2" filters in-between the 1.25" and 2" barrels. This is particularly convenient for users of 2" filters.

Table 1: Combinations of Hyperion Eyepieces with Finetuning Rings (FTR) to Modify the Focal Length
