Hi Guys, yesterday Alice and myself hired a small leisure craft and cruised the Mary River waters and lagoons in NT, what a great day it was too.
Anyway whilst we motored along the wildlife and crocks were every where, definitely no place to have a swim, or jump onto the bank for a picnic, we spotted at least 15-16 crocks.
Great to see them in the wild
Here are a few of the locals we spotted, and the Eagle catching lunch, the shots are not that flash, but might be worth a look.
No Molly, the one which i photographed near the boat was very close, we actually followed him up the river, and the one with he's/she's mouth open, about 6 meters away, but the boat was very safe with a protective heavy duty fence around the living area.
Really a great set of images.I particularly like image 5 of the White Bellied Sea Eagle with large fish.I like the tree in corner and bottom, and the position and wings of the bird. Its a winner-you could card this one up and sell these!
Any chance you could post a crop of it,I'd like to check the ID of fish, and by the size I can see in the current version-looks like a 2 or 3 kg model. The image appears to have good IQ and could handle a crop for a closer look.
Down here on the coast, all we ever see the Osprey's with it Black Trevelly. This is really interesting to see a sea raptor with something different-and larger!
Great pics Leon, lots of crocs to photograph up NT, though didnt see any on the beaches like we were warned about. People were having swimming at Mingel Beach.
We get the sea eagle here too, and it is always soaring majestically over my place.
Not sure either Leon, usually I can ID them, without reference-but this ones got me stumped-I'll have to get the 'Grant's Guide to Guide to Fishes' out of the archives and check.I've also linked this thread in the fishing forum,as likely to get an ID there too.
Yes, brilliant images, Leon. I hope it was a BIG boat. I wouldn't trust those salties to keep to their side of the gunwale.
Also nice to see some pictures of blue sky. Glum and overcast here. Glad you and Alice are still having such a wonderful adventure. Inspiring for the rest of us.
