Sun 1st August 12" Dob

Hi all,

I managed to image the Sun this afternoon using a full aperture solar filter, the Canon EOS 550D and the Sky Watcher 12" Goto Dobsonian, manually tracked.

Thanks for looking,

Tom

Nice shots, Tom. What type and brand of full aperture filter were you using ?

White light images are still excellent even though everyone uses Ha scopes but these show great detail.

John.

Thanks everyone. The seeing was relatively good. Mark, I used a sheet of mylar mounted on a flower pot dish as the full aperture filter.

Yes, shot in monochrome. With the auto white balance on the 550D, a colour shot comes out a bit redder.
