Mercury 16th and 21st July

Given the interest in Tom's recent Mercury image, I thought I would post these two images taken a week or so ago.

Both taken during daylight with a DMK21 camera, the first on 16th July with a 150mm SCT at f/10, through an a #21 Orange filter, the second on 21st July with a 279mm SCT at f/10 through a #25 Red filter.

These are stacks of around 3500 frames. In both cases the seeing was very unsteady, but the hint of surface detail visible is encouraging.

Definitely surface detail there Ivan - nicely done. Mercury sure is tricky!
