IC2177-The Seagull nebula

Hi All,
My first go at this object, dident quite get it all, also looks like a few more exposures would be helpful as its Mag.10 object.

4 x 5 Min. Exp. DF removed ISO-800 (Canon) ED80+ F6.3 F/R- guided.

Jim can you explain the cause of the halos around those brighter stars and the nebulous area to the lower left of the shot? Plus how you managed to attach your FR to the Orion? I can't get my Orion to come to focus using the Meade 6.3 FR, T adapter and camera ring. It seems I need to do away with the T adapter, but I can't mate camera ring to FR without it.

i saw this one in a mag recently and I didn't fully appreciate the shot until i saw yours.
Very nice, maybe with a few more shots it may come out more, but I can sort of see the gull shape. Can you give it another go and show us how its done?

Hi All,
Thanks for all the comments, and PAUL- The halos around the stars are due to my processing (still learning-IP) and as I push to get the best results, I get the halos also-one day ill get it right.But the slight blue glow around two of the stars is Reflection Nebulosity.- I use a "DP2" Antares 2" Prime focus adaptor-I bought from www.clearvueoptics.com, this fits the Meade/Celestron F-6.3 F/R to the Canon "T" adaptor, for a comparison I used the "MOGG" F/R last night which gives a bit larger FOV-takes the ED80 to F-4.95 (with a bit of Coma on the edges-has no Coma correction), had herewith IC-2177 again.
7 x 4 Min. Exp.-DF removed ED80+ MOGG F/R ISO-800, guided.
Hey can anyone see the Seagull in it ???.

looks brighter, after a few ports maybe there is a seagull!
nice image and structure within. I sometimes wonder how they get the shapes and "common" names, could be a dove, or pigeon!

Nice contrast Jim. I like it a lot.

I can definately see a diving bird in there. Surely a more poetic name, like Peregrin Swooping, would have done more justice to this lovely nebula then just Seagull Nebula.
