Terif Trif (to me anyway)

guided lx90 1 1/4 hrs - Canon 450.

Got some more data last night and have at last a presentable Triffid.
There's still a lot to be done and more data if possible but it actually looks like a piccie!

Good job, looking good. That's very exciting getting autoguiding to work and being able to image for long exposure times.

Fabulous effort, Jen. Excellent round stars.

How long were each sub-exposure?

Also, why isn't it centred?

Great effort indeed Jen, a bit of work to go but you are sure getting there, well done.

Jen I was always told by some to center images of this description, I took no notice as i reckon a bit off set looks better, do it the way you like it Jen.

The reason why I asked why it wasn't centred was because once it's stretched, the blue nebulosity will be lost off the frame.

The subs were about 3 mins.
I'm slowly working up the subs - the camera doesn't always seem to like long subs - it sometimes has a green band across the bottom and I haven't worked out why

Are you imaging with a DC power supply or batteries?

I found when imaging with the 300D and 350D that I got better results when using the power supply. It may have been an issue that was rectified with later models.

Well on the way to greater success. Guiding can be an obstacle. Looking forward to seeing more. Well done.

Canon batteries I was told heat up when they discharge and this increases noise by heating the sensor. So the theory is to use the power pack so it doesn't heat up. I used to use the power pack but can't say the batteries gave poor results though. I imagine the effect is subtle.

A very good photo Jen.

Sharp and well guided. I like the subtle colours.

Ross.
