Ctb1

I decided to image vdB159 to add it to my vdB collection, but alas, it too is a dud. But next to it, relatively speaking, is the supernova remnant CTB1. I have never tried imaging this object and now I know why -- it is really really dim!
Here it is, done in an H:O:O filter composition:

There is a lot of background noise, but that is because it all has to be stretched to bring it out. The outer rim of CTB1 is not too dim, but I wanted to show more so the data had to be stretched.

That is certainly a faint one Tom, but what a beautiful object. Really like this field.

This looks quite similar to Marco's recent image, very cool looking object Tomaso .

Beautifully handled.

That's very impressive, and it looks very smooth too, I can't really see any noise. What is the tiny dark blob on the bottom of the red part of shell, some sort of Bok globule? It looks a bit out of place, so wondering what it might be.

Nice shot, Tom

Certainly a faint one...more aperture might help and a really dark sky.

A fantastic image Tom. That's great you caught that remnant. Is that an unknown object?

Greg.

Thanks Mike. I still don't have the whole NB processing down; I'm still trying though!

Yes, it is a small, but prominant globule. It really stands out, doesn't it!

Yes, very faint. More aperture would definately help! I don't have one of Greg's CK17 f/4.5 scopes though!!!!

It is known just not imaged very often. You can find a few images of it including a nice wide field done by Martin Pugh.

Yes, I am quite pleased with the OIII section. I have seen a couple other images with the OIII in them, but none have any detail like this image.

Thanks Marco!

Marvellous image Tom. Would have been quite difficult to dig for the object structure on this one. Operating at such a fast focal ratio would have helped. Love it! Well done.
