They look great. You'd have to have them on some sort of tracking though so they roll off though, wouldn't you.

Yep..
Long time ago I had something like this (made of steel pipes and plywood sheet) on tracks (I posted a pic of it some time ago, but I can't find it now).
Or, removable roof.
The prices for them are really affordable, and since they are not very heavy, it is easy to place them.
Of course, the anchoring (wind) is an issue.

I seem to remember someone posted a picture of their plastic mount cover (a barbie fun house or something similar) totally decimated after a storm.
Still, if you know a severe storm is coming, you can always bring the scope inside.

This is the sort of idea I am planning. I keep trying to improve or find a better solution or idea. Flip top, roll off, rolling shed/hut etc etc.
My biggest issue is to make it really waterproof, no damp intrusion and to get a good leakproof opening roof system. Electronics and water do NOT mix well.
Thanks for the links and ideas.

Looks like an outdoor toilet, surely you don't consider your scope like that? LOL.

That a ripper JJJ
What an excellent idea, he should put a few Daleks around for scope security.

Question.
If you wanted a dome with a rotatable hemisphere and a slot/aperture, what diameter would it be and how much would you pay for it?
Would you want it attached to a roof section and finished so you could just pop it on top of your average garden shed?

My Skywatcher Dob LOOKS like a dalek when it's collapsed and covered. Mebbie he could use those instead.

Sirius dome, the smallest (2.3m dia, complete, with motors etc) is around AU$10,000.00
Dome itself is ~AU$2,000.00 (it may be cheaper these days, due to strong AU$)
