Is the site slow or just me.

Is it just me or are others experiencing extremely slow loading of pages here today. It's going at a snails pace atm.

It's just taken me 14 minutes to load this page I wouldn't want to be on dialup, come back tomorrow and it may have loaded.
I have noticed though the site is slower since the upgrade.

Generally a bit slower before today, but I've read 2.5 pages of a novel by the time this page loaded. Bit more tweaking needed me thinks.

I've also noticed when I write a post and hit the "post quick reply" button nothing happens at times. Just "Done" comes up in the lower left of the status bar

It's having a few probs atm, I've noticed.

It was fast when we first upgraded, not so good the last few days. Looking into it.

It was very slow this morning up till now.
But I've noticed the site running a bit sluggish since the upgrade.

I like the upgrade though, it just takes a bit of getting used too.
I used to miss some threads before the upgrade with the 15 min timeout.
Now it's better but will take a bit of time to get the hang of the new setup.

Thanks guys.

That's because you've already read it.. ie: you posted it. The new forum read indicators mean that once you've read a thread/post, it stays as read until a new post is there. And if you haven't read a post/thread, it stays as unread until:
a) you read it
b) you "mark forums read"

You can see your post right after you press submit. If you want to see it in context in the relevant forum, click on that forum to show all threads.

Pages constantly timing out. Thought it might be a dns issue so tried to ping www2.iceinspace.com.au and www.iceinspace.com.au which resolved to an address of:-

http://66.118.185.131

Going directly to this page leads only to a page saying "Hehe".

Have you applied al security / patches etc. Looks like you may well have a security issue - and there ARE a few upset people out there!

it was 5 minutes after I made the post above that I could nt get on the site at all. I think that would pass a minor problem.

During the outage today I tried two different browsers and got different results.

With Mozilla Firfox, it simply stated the site was not responding.

With Internet Explorer, it said "Hi" in the top left corner???? Is this intentional or is somebody messing with the site.

We had DoS attack on the server, which is no big drama. But along with that, was a server configuration problem which was the major cause of the outage.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

EDIT: Oh and no - the site was not hacked.

What brought up the "hi" and "hehe"? - for several hours. Looked like a bit of a worry.

That's simply because apache wasn't running, due to the server misconfiguration problem as Terry said.
