A collection of my old astronomy photos

Hi guys, long time no C. I trust you've all been observing more than me lately, which is close to zero lol.

Anyway, I was messing about with a slideshow maker and made a youtube video of my old astronomy photos. Some of these date back to Halley's Comet in 1986, many were taken with film and video cameras. They are vastly inferior to what you guys have been taking over the last few years, but hopefully they are still worth a look. I have hundreds of film photos just sitting in a box, may as well put some of them out there for all to see.

The video is here.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I've been into other things and have put astronomy aside for the time being. Not that it's all my fault, it's always cloudy here these days.

Comets are my passion, not that anyone could tell by my username lol.

Might have to chisel off the inch thick dust to shoot comet Elenin later in the year.

I love comets to!! Did you see the big McNaught Comet? We missed it up here due to the weather, we were not happy campers.

Was one of those comets Hyakutake? That was the most spectacular comet I have ever seen!!!!! For one night (maybe 2)its long tail streamed across the sky, I was gobsmacked!!!!

Much the same here in Mackay. Got only a short glimpse through a gap in the cloud. I couldn't believe it stayed cloudy for the entire appearance. I swore bad all year over that lol.

Yes Hyakutake in 1996 was awesome. Have many great photos of it. I would say it's the best comet I've seen.

That was very enjoyable.

Liked how Jupiter and Saturn moved away like they would in a Dob.

Thanks for sharing.

Those planets were taken through dobs. Home made dobs. Ground the mirrors too.

most enjoyable

g day all,
my first post though i have been lurking and buying for a while.

thanks Kevin, really enjoyable - relaxing - uplifting.

last saturday night members of the mackay tropical stargazers group gathered in andergrove (mackay); it was nice to spend a quality evening with great people and their gear.

Kevin came along and it was my pleasure to spend time at my DOB and others with Kevin. i knew a little of his background so have been searching out his old posts.

Hi Lindon. Welcome to the forum! I nearly missed your post, I don't usually check general chat much. I hang out in the imaging forums a lot. Great to see you here.

Great pics!

If you captioned them ('scope, date, target, maybe location) that would add further.
