M104

I thought I'd give my 550D one last chance as an Astro Cam. I was hoping that the cooler weather might reduce some of the noise that plagued me earlier.
This is the result.
8x5min, on M104 @ ISO 400. Scope SW ED80.
Still not happy with the amount of blotchiness in the final image, and if I shot at ISO 800, the noise is still quite bad.
But I'm happy enough with the final result.

Nice shot JJJ, it's interesting to see the shark in the same frame.

Cheers,
Jason.

That is a really nice image JJJ – you certainly have your imaging rig well under control and the finishing is very nice.

Cheers

Thats a nice framing with the 3 bright stars on the right pointing to this wonderful bright galaxy.

Nice one Jeanette. I certainly wouldn't be rushing to decommision the cam without a lot more pics. I wonder if it might help to run it off external power to help keep it a few degrees cooler? Probably won't be much of a problem in coming months me thinks anyway!

Very nice JJ. A tiny target for the ED80 but still resolved very nicely.

Well done.
