The Mountain

Some of you may have seen this, but I watched it this am for the first time ... beautiful. I am heading to Spain later in the year, perhaps I should head up to the Teide Observatory for a peek.

Amazing time lapse video in HD.
Just love the 'sea' of clouds below and sparkling stars of the Milky Way above, not to mention the scenery......Awesome.

Saw that last night. Terje's pretty damn awesome.

It's an awful pity that these still all start looking the same after a while!

Also, that poor shutter. The best way to kill a DSLR!

Hi Liz,

Thanks for the link.

Fabulous video. Really on top of the world there in the Canary Islands!

Aaah Gary, I hadnt googled it, and didnt know that Mt Teide was on the Canary Islands, and not on Spanish mainland!!

I had thought I could visit there later in year, but not now. I was a member of 'Slooh' for a couple of years on the Canary Islands.

Was a great video.

Hi Liz,

It caught me as well at first.

I had started watching the video and when I glanced down to read
where it mentions it as being "Spain's highest mountain" I thought
it doesn't look like any part of the Pyrenees I had seen. Then I tumbled
that it must be in the Canaries and sure enough he mentions that a little
further down.

When I hear the words "Canary Islands" and "observatory" the first
words that usually pop into my head are "La Palma".

Anyway, the video makes a compelling showpiece to want to visit the
Canary Islands. But if you haven't been up to the Pyrenees along the
French/Spanish border, I wholeheartedly recommend it as it is very pretty
and there are quiet little villages nestled up there where it is very easy to escape
the rush of the rest of the world.
