NGC 6872 reprocess

Everyone seems to be doing reprocessing these days so I thought I would too. This is the NGC 6872 galaxy group in Pavo. Some people might complain about the saturation but hey, I like colorful images.

Cheers

Steve

A beautiful image. It looks though like you have black clipped the background. It seems it has a sharp dropoff in blackness. Some prefer deep sky to have more of a dark shade of grey. I think its more accurate that way as well.

How do you like the STL6303? It seems a good match to your RC.

Greg.

Excellent, love it. So detailed, natural and ....... organic. Saturation is very appropriate, you have it nailed.

Thanks Greg. The background's not clipped although it was a bit dark. Actually in lightening it up a bit I discovered a processing artefact over to the left which I've now got rid of. That's what comes of processing in a well lit room.

Thanks Marc. The original wasn't as colorful and a bit harsher looking. With this I was playing around with HDR without really knowing what I was doing.

Forgot to add - the 6303 is a fine camera although the blooming can be a bit of a pain. I generally stay away from bright stars as much as possible. I wouldn't use it on the Pleiades for instance.

Yes I have heard others have trouble with the blooming. What do you think then of the 6302LE which is similar but anti-blooming? Perhaps it loses a bit of response but perhaps it is worth it.

Greg.

To be honest I've never heard of the 6302LE. When I was looking at the 6303E I enquired as to whether there was an equivalent anti-blooming version but was told there wasn't. In any case the verdict of the SBIG list was to stick with the NABG version and I'm glad I did. Perhaps I exaggerated the blooming problem. It's not really too bad and I can generally manage it pretty well by keeping my subs fairly short.

And that's precisely what the SBIG group said

As I recall, I did like the original as it had subtle colouration to the galaxies...

Still, I do like this one as you've really handled the cranked up colour saturation very well. There's no trace of any residual effect from doing so to your back ground, which is very dark, smooth and rich.

Nice job Steve!

Rich
