Eta Carina in a more traditional Hubble pallet - repro

While I still like the Celestial Fireworks version posted a little while ago, I decided to develop the more traditional HST narrowband colour pallet version of SII Ha OIII.

This filter order has certainly revealed the intricate spread of each of the three emissions quite well I think. I only coloured the stars with RGB data slightly as I prefer them not to be too RGB looking, I like the original hubble appearence for stars but with slightly more natural colour and the magenta, that results from this combination, reduced a little. I think this better matches the colour pallet...?

The large version (full frame @ 67% full size) is the best to view to appreciate all the knotts and swirls throughout the nebula and it's worth a careful scan as there are so many little interesting features to find...and you can always shrink it in your browser to fit on your screen better if you wish.

Of course if you are impatient or have a slower internet speed, you can see the smaller version (full frame @ 38% full size) instead

This is my favourite section, I wonder how many would recognise it as part of the Eta Carina Nebula...?

Now you can call me a traditionalist but that really is beautiful Mike. Astounding detail and structure revealed in the large frame size.
I like this the best.

Hubble colours of cyan and orange always play well against each other but I would prefer more orange and less cyan blue. Although SII might have been difficult to collect. Also the celestial fireworks image was still good in my opinion. Its a fantastic area with great silhouettes of dust you caught so well Mike.

Seems too blue for my delicate taste

I think there is a lot more red in it than that and that would make for a more balanced colour image. Trouble with narrowband is the red gets overwhelmed by the Ha assigned to green.

Tight as Mike - wonderfully sharp and detailed, and although the different presentations are educational for a NB newbie, I'm still not sure about the mega blue version.....

The interesting bits are sharpened just right and the sulfur colour is a tantalising distraction from the various shade of my favourite channel..(blue that is

After a day of viewing it in various room lights and after a break I have decided that while I liked the blue appearence I decided the Ha (green) was not obvious enough and the Ha/OIII mix within the nebula wasn't obvious enough either.

The Ha and OIII form layers within the nebula and now these layers are more distinct and the Ha and SII have clearly mixed to make the yellows and the Ha appears to hover above the OIII in distinct patches, much happier now

Looks good to me Mike. There's a huge amount of detail there. I think that you are allowed a lot of flexibility in NB images and you have made some pretty good choices with this image.

I love all versions. Narrow band brings much more details. Colours are a matter of taste.

Hey thanks Big Louie glad you liked it, while the wealth of details visible in the larger version were appreciated by most, as far as the colour pallets went, it seemed members of the jury either loved it
