With sadness I noted the passing of one of the greatest UK rock pioneers, the original Shadows' bassist Jet Harris

He is credited with being the first bass player in Britain to use an electric bass in a group, and later popularised the Fender Precision Bass. He also coined the Shadows' name.
I well remember learning his bass lines when I took it up in the 60's, especially Kon-Tiki, which is a marvellous bass part.
He sadly slid into alcoholism and depression in later years, but made a stage comeback in the 90s.
