Another obscure one - Longmore 5

Hi to all

This one is a work in progress because the weather turned bad before I could finish the colour. It's a large faint planetary that isn't often imaged although I see that some IIS members have had a go at it. There are plenty of faint fuzzies in the field if you care to search them out.

There's some very interesting objects in that view, apart from the PN. There's a newly suspected nearby dwarf galaxy there, possibly a Local Group member...AM 1111-474. It's an irregular galaxy.

Interesting, another fine one Steve

Great work, keep imaging those obscure ones. Its amazing how many are out there yet to be imaged other than by professional survey telescopes

Thanks Scott. Yes there's certainly lots out there within the reach of amateur scopes.

Great image Steve. Even looks good in Black and white which usually leaves small planetaries wanting.

Thanks David. It's a 31.75cm (12.5") RCOS Ritchey Chretien and a SBIG STL6303E CCD camera. The combination works at F9.

Thanks again guys. All I need to do the colour is about 3 hours of clear sky and no moon. Might be wishful thinking but the weather does slowly seem to be improving.
