Saturn Feb 24th in good seeing.

Hi All,

I have some interesting data from this morning. Imaged over a 2 hr session in pretty consistent conditions.

Image the section of the storm just back from the head to check up on the large dark spot that I imaged Feb 16th.
The morphology of this spot has changed, it is still quite prominent but clearly it has become more elongated. The structure, regarding the line of white spots in this region seems very similar to Feb 16th.

I have 5 RGB 807nm IR data sets which I have attached along with animations of both data sets. It is interesting to compare the animations with those from Feb 16th as the conditions were similar so I have also attached a link to that thread.

There was also a shadow transit of Tethys toward the end of the session which shows up in both RGB & 807nm IR data.

Those are so good with ring shadows and strong dust structure and sharp rings.

It rained on me last night with slow moving cloud and finally avg seeing but will get a go tonight hopefully. That dark patch is intruging especially to see how it develops over next few weeks.

The IR's are just splendid - how long do you run the IR's, I go for 3mins at 9.5fps with my 742nm?

Thanks Carl, there is nice structure within this storm at just about any longitude although the first 50 degrees from the head are the most active.

Thanks Matt, reckon I can do better, hopefully a whole lot better when I take delivery of the custom primary that Mark Suchting is grinding for me.

Thanks John, a shame about your weather, it has been a bit pt
problematic of late. I run my IR at 11fps with my histo at approx 70% for 120 sec's.

Thanks very much Ray, I think the addition of a very high quality secondary has helped, reckon a lot has to do with the seeing. Just about any well collimated and accurately focused scope will produce nice images in good seeing but very high quality optics will produce stunning images in good seeing.
