If Only We Had This Every Night ... !!!!

To view this every night .. one has to be in Death Valley ... USA. You'd never get any sense out of me ... once night came around. ..... . I'd get a 99 year lease on this patch of dirt ...

btw ... I did not take this photo ... credit goes to the original poster.
I was sent this photo in an email .

The only thing I find hard with this kind of view is trying to make sense of the constelations when there are that many I cant see the trees for the forest. But I would still love to have the chance to try

Great Picture
Did you notice the "Walking Rock"
I have seen this image or one similar a few times but it still brings a sense of Awe at our magnificent Milky Galaxy
Cheers

Fantastic, and that's the boring half of the sky!

If we had clear sky down here in the south every night . . . .

Hi Colin,

Another reminder of that friendliest of tips.

Please don't forget that attribution and link. It gives the original
creator the kudos they deserve and inquiring minds just want to know.

I know some astrophotographers even here on IceInSpace can get a little
miffed when they don't get an attribution. And rightly so.

See reason below for " NOT " being able to credit or give kudos to original poster.
Are you happy now ... ?????

Hi Colin,

Thanks for adding the disclaimer to the original post.

However I know that some would prefer if some effort were made to determine
the original creator. I appreciate that may not be possible or practical, particularly
for historical works. However, in this day and age of the net, just about everything
is discoverable with nothing more than a quick Google search.

For example, it took less than 15 seconds to find the image here on Wikipedia -
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi...ky_nps_big.jpg
and that that it was the APOD on May 8 2007 here -
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap070508.html
and that the creator was Dan Duriscoe who is part of the US National Park
Service "Night Sky Team" who have a web site which even includes Dan's
phone number - http://www.nature.nps.gov/air/lightscapes/team.cfm

The problem is that it works in the reverse direction just as quickly and
authors can sometimes very easily identify an offending web site,
in this case IceInSpace.

As a tip as to how easy it was to identify the original author, i simply did
a Google search on the file name Deathvalleysky_nps_big.jpg

Well, you are more clever than me at finding things .... kudos's to you ... Now I'm getting an education on how it's done....All members take note....any photos posted... you know what to do now.
I'm not being sarcastic .... any photos sent to me from friends... then I have to do a search to credit the original poster...THAT'S WHAT YOUR TELLING ME I MUST DO.....Fair Go...!!!

If I can ...then I will ..( Just to keep you at ease Gary ) if not...TOO BAD ...!!!
ARE WE HAPPY NOW ...!!!
