Black Sunday
I hate how the media grabs a name and uses it IMO inappropriately for sensationalism nothing more
Ok severe bush fires in the hills have destroyed around 14 homes so far today (no one hurt) but if you know the area as I do this was a tragedy waiting to happen especially after our drought in 2010.
Winds have been gusting over 60kph all day
Never the less I'm appalled by the media's use of a term which personifies tragic events that just happen to occur on a Sunday couldn't they be a little more original and emphatic

Has been hard watching the news and seeing so many houses burning around Perth today. 30 odd now. They all could've easily been my own or one of my families who are all in similar areas of the hills. You do what you can to keep your own house prepared but there's bush around and it's so dry here.

What did seem really weird today was watching the cricket on TV with the bushfire burning in the background.
Cameras showing it and commentators talking about it.
Just seemed bizzarre!
Everyone in the crowd cheering and having a good time, while right behind them was horror.
I know the world must go on, but it just seemed weird to watch.

Maybe the Seven Sunrise team should be over there reporting this event all day like the flood and cyclone event that we all were watching.
Cheers Kev.

I have been watching this closely, as my second son's house was close to the fire and he was evacuated to the nearest evacuation point. This is the Roleystone one. He is fine but not yet know about the house but think it was safe.
This one was not deliberately lit, unfortunately someone did not take the proper precaution in using and angle grinder.
I have to agree the area is a fire trap.
