Observing in Florida

Hey everyone,

I haven't been very communicative lately due to the weather, work and travel. I don't think I have set up my rig for about 5 months but have just completed an observation session at the Fox Observatory in South Florida using a Brandon 6" Refractor telescope that was made in the 1920s and was originally set up in the Bahamas.

It was interesting as there was a Meade LX14 in the observatory as well and the 90 year old refractor optics stood up very well in comparison.

Both set on M42 showed the LX as out of collimation slightly. Funnily enough the field of view in both scopes was similar.

Checked out the twin clusters in Taurus and the refractor was pin point.

All in all a very fun and interesting evening and many thanks to the
South Florida Amatuer Astronomy Society.

That sounds like a lot of fun over there. Aust has not been much fun this year with all sorts of disasters & crook weather.
