Seeing was a bit above the recent average, but very variable. Took longer than normal sequences and threw away a lot in the stacking to get one fair result. Resolution is not outstanding, but it seems that this part of the storm is less pronounced than it was - as Trevor has noted. Thanks for looking.
Looking good Ray, I really do hope that this apparent drop off in the brightness is more a reflection on the quality of the seeing than changes in the intrinsic brightness of the storm. I note that Bird had some reasonable seeing Jan 31 and the storm still looked pretty bright then.
Hi Trevor. Maybe it is only lower in contrast as it moves away from the Central Meridian and approaches the limb? I think that a dulling of features as they move to the east of CM can also be seen in your animation of the 24th - the contrast looks highest when features are central or on western side of the CM ie, a drop in contrast to the east of CM may simply indicate that the storm surface has lower effective reflectivity at some combinations of illumination/reflection angle than others. This is probably quite reasonable if it is composed of ice crystals aligned by a jetstream. Regards Ray
