Yamba Holiday Snaps

Howdy all,

The family and I went away after Christmas. We managed to escape the weather of SEQ and found some sunshine in Yamba. Had a great holiday doing as much nothing as possible - highly recommend it as a destination.

Anyway, here are some pics that I took. There are a mixture of shots including: sunrise, sunset, stitched pano & infra-red. I bought a cheap Infra-red filter ($20) and also a 9 stop ND filter on eBay before Christmas. Two of the Sunrise shots were taken with the ND filter. I didn't get the classic "smokey" rock shots that I was after, but hopefully I'll get a chance to do that later in the year.

I'm quite happy with the pano shot - I paid attention to getting the tripod level and then the camera level with an hot-shoe level ($3.99 inc postage on ebay!) . It seems to have prevent any distortion in the stitching process. I shot the pano with the camera in portrait orientation - the resulting file is huge, but the detail is magnificient.

I processed the infra-red one to create a "pseudo-colour" image by reversing the Red & Blue layers in Channel mixer on PS.

I also got a chance to take some great pics of my kids in the park, but I won't bore you with those...

C&C always welcome - especially if you think I have overdone any of my processing!

Ta for looking,
DT

That's a beautiful collection there. No criticism from me. Particularly liked #5.

re yamba

Interesting images,I like the colours in 2 and 5-well that's stunning really outstanding image-would do well in a comp. This type of photography is hard work-getting up earlier in the morning-but results like 5 are well worth it.

Yamba is the home of big Jew fish,so I have a hard choice when I go there-photography or Jew fishing,Now I am getting older I tend to go for photography.

Cheers Chris

PS have you got the link to that cheap Ebay level,we talked about it once before, and I am off to the beach in a few weeks, thanks

Yamba - timeless beach scene

David,

Wonderful shots. Nbr7 is a particularly fine composition.

Very little in that scene has changed during the past 60 years that I have been surfing that beach. However the main beach surf has deteriorated significantly since the sea walls were completed. A great shame as it was
a wonderful surf beach in my youth.

Have you visited Brooms Head and Red Rock Just 20kms further south? Fantastic sunrise lagoon scenes and rock features?
