Horsehead repro on a rainy nite

Another rainy night in Sydney, so time for a repro on the image I took last weekend. I think I did a much better job this time but I really need a lot more luminosity data.

I wasn't game to put Alnitak into the frame, after the big reflection halo I got last time I tried the horsie.

Scope: William Optics 110 Apo
Camera: QSI 549
Guider: Starlight Xpress Loadstar
Mount: Losmandy GM8
Exposure:35 minutes each of RGB binned 2 x 2, 35 minutes luminosity binned 1 x 1.

At this size presentation, it looks pretty excellent Geoff, some good reflections there huh? and a couple of colour blodges (you could hide these pretty easily though)...but they don't really detract too much from the overall job you have done.

Very Nice

Looks like your 'rainy day' in payed off.
Nice repro!
Good colour balance and the reflection nebs turned out nicely.

Just judging from the smallish image published, maybe a bit more colour data as well as luminance. Looks to be some residual- mottling effects showing up from pushing the saturation in your colour channels.. [maybe jpg compression]

Refractors certainly handle Alnitak better than reflectors... no real drama that I can see here at all.

Yes, certainly more data is needed. Always a bit of a tradeoff between pulling out detail and showing noise.
