Christmas FIGHT!

I caught this red-back spider just in my front door way this afternoon, trying its best to wrap up a Christmas Beetle. Unfortunately the beetles armour was too strong, sot eh spider was trying to bite it in the joints of its legs, then tried for the face.

My wife eventually interfered and rescued the beetle from the web.

The cicada was just minding its own business and I left it alone once done clicking away.

The caterpillar was on Dads lemon tree, so he let me photograph it just before he squashed it!

the first three should be macro images of the year!.

I think the beetle is a 'Lamprima aurta',they breed in rotting logs of coastal she-oaks (casurarina sp).

The cicada photo is a craker!.

Well done Barry-what lens/gear are you using?and what PP,I love the clarity of these images.

Thanks guys. The gear is in my signature. I was using the 100mm macro lens with the MT-24EX twin lite flashes with tissues over them to diffuse them.

Troy, that's right, but one should have died and the other should have lived if not interfered with my man... oh well, I enjoy the lemons in my Coronas...
