Pony Club: New Year's Weekend
It is time I blew the dust off the Mary Rose and gave her a night out under the stars.
I am thinking of heading up to the Pony Club on Saturday 1 January. Moonrise is not until 3.29am, so a good night's observing will be available.
Who is keen? Can I tempt you with the promise of views of M42 through a 20 inch SDM telescope?

I might join you there, Rod.
I need to give the new 10-inch first light under dark skies, and the 28-day forecast shows some fine weather at the moment.
Would Friday be a better choice? Everyone else will be in Sydney for NYE ...

Hey Shane, Friday night is new years eve mate. Too much light pollution with all the fireworks.
At this stage guys may be able to do Saturday night, not definite though.
Cheers

Hey Shane and Rick, would be good if you guys can make it, and I would love to be part of the first light for your new 10" LX200 Shane - that was my first scope (minus the ACF).
Friday (New Years) is not good for me due to family commitments.
Who else is interested in coming????

We'll be out - just in the Little Desert Vic, not NSW ! We'll have to arrange something in the middle during 2011 though eh.

James, I wish I could be with you guys at Little Desert, sounds fantastic. Hope you have clear skies. Let me know what you have in mind for later in the year - we can email about it.

RB,does this mean that you will have plenty of time to 'break tradition' and pack a scope to bring??? (new year's resolution maybe)
Don't worry too much though, as it looks like there will be plenty of other glass to look through.
Be good to catch up.
