Fine Weather for SEQ

It's looking good for us in SEQ with fine weather predicted for tomorrow too.
I'm really getting really excited about this Eclipse now.

Well, with ponders new mount due to arrive on the 29th, I'm getting in while the getting is good. We've buckley's chance of clear weather once that arrives.
My mount is already set up, just need to add a scope, power and cameras.
The transparency is pretty good, I can see individual trees on Mt Archer in the distance. Here's hoping the seeing is just as good. Shame about the moon though, but I won't let that slow me down too much. So I have to take shorter subs....I can live with that.
Did I mention? I'm excited!!!

We know what you mean Troy.
I'm fortunate that my back yard is surrounded by windbreaks on 3 sides. ( also known as houses) Tomorrow night though, well, it's only short subs we'll be taking of the moon, so I'm sure it won't matter in the least.

Yes,

It is, and thus a winding road in this weather can be both windier and windier.

If that sounds too windy, last week I cut a tree down, and then I cut it up.

Cheers

"Before Mt Everest was dicovered, what was the highest mountain on Earth?"

Surprise, surprise, It's cloudy in Vic and bugger me it's snowing on the hills here. Maybe a white Christmas this year. If nothing else it will be wet, very wet with 5" of rain predicted between Christmas and New Year. Floods again. Thats 4 since September the first.

Its still looking nice and clear so hopefully i will get out for a play tonight. Probably binoculars only cause i have to be up at crack of dawn for work. How typical is it that i had four days off and it rained all the time then go back to work today to sit in the office and look out at beautiful weather.
I think they are predicting increasing cloud tomorrow so i will get out there while the getting is good.

I can not believe it, actually yas I can, I am out as I am sure all of South East Qld is tonight (Monday) and I am trying to shoot the Rosette Nebula and everywhere is clear except a stream of clouds that is continually channeling through my image.

What a beautiful night!!

My son was very excited about the clear skies when I got home from work so I set up the scope. I'd only just collimated it and was astounded at how such a small amount of adjustment can have such an amazing effect. For the first time ever the band(s) on Jupiter were clearly visible. As we used to say when I was a teenager, it was deadset grouse!

As well as the scope I also set up the guide scope and did some imaging to FINALLY try out my MPCC and UHC-S filter. The Orion Nebula was the target and I hope to process the pictures in the next couple of days when the rain returns to SEQ.

Anyway, it was just a gorgeous night except for one thing... those darn midges. But hey, it was worth the constant bitting (yes, I had insect repellant on!) just to be out in the dark - just me, my thoughts and the silence of my backyard that was only broken by my timer that beeped every 2, 3 or 5 minutes!!

Cheers,
Mario

It was a mite bit cool last night. It got down to around 10 degrees last night. Could well be a record for here.
The mozzies though were something shocking, biting me through my clothes. It's topping todays shopping list!
I'll be posting moonage later this morning.
