The legacy of Mr Squiggle

So sad to hear about the passing yesterday of Norman Hetherington, the man who was Mr Squiggle.

Such is the impact of this "kids" show, that the Enmore School of Design has a component in its entrance exam where the applicants need to complete a "squiggle" sketch! Not one, several. And, the exam asks not to go for the obvious, ie: if it's a zig-zag pattern, don't make it a series of mountains.

Not bad for a kids show.

My sister sat for this exam. She said this exercise was one of the hardest things she had ever done! "A real brain ...."

Norman made it look so easy, and doing it with a puppet, AND upside down (his view from above)!!!

Sad indeed. When I was a young kid, I was freaked out by Mr Squiggle, so never watched it.

I think his trips to the Moon were faked in a studio.

Oh no! That would be another childhood illusion busted.

RIP Norman Hetherington

I loved Mr. Squiggle, it was my favourite show as a kid and it still always makes me smile. He will certainly be missed!!
