Cactus Flower

My cactus chose tonight to flower!
Been waiting and waiting, watching the bud grow.
It's not fully open yet and already it's 5" across.

I'm taking photos of this last stage in the hope of creating an animation. Wish I'd realised it was going to open tonight. I could have gotten the whole thing.
It's the 3 year it's flowered. There was another bud growing, only just noticed it had fallen off.

Of course I don't mind you showing me yours Leon. (did I say that??)

Epiphylum cacti are nocturnal flowering. Sometimes they will only last 1 night and die by the morning.

LOL I think flashing a flash at a night flower every 10 minutes causes it to think that it's day time and it must close.
Bleeding obvious when you think about it.
