That's sad. Leslie Nielsen was lead actor in my favourite film of all time, the 1956 classic "Forbidden Planet". It was his character, captain of the United Planets Cruiser C-57D "John J. Adams", which most probably provided the spark I needed to become interested in everything "space".

I wasn't a fan of the later Airport or Naked Gun stuff at all, but acknowledge his versatility.

RIP Mr Nielsen.

Sad news.
That movie Forbidden Planet left an indelible image on me as a kid.
Seeing that flying saucer in space at the start of the movie probably stirred my interest in astronomy way back then.
A classic movie and ahead of it's time for sure.
Ditto RIP

I always enjoyed his humour and his ability to keep that serious face when everything around him was totally ridiculous.

RIP Leslie

Farewell Leslie. I enjoyed your work.

My children searched out and bought the back catalog of Police Squad so he made an impact on the next generation as well.

"Nice beaver!"

"Thanks I just had it stuffed" **hands him a stuffed beaver**

Classic stuff. Never saw his old movies, but I grew up on the Flying High and Naked Gun series. Still get a laugh when I watch them today.

Sadly missed...

RIP-Leslie Nielsen

Bit late but since I am watching Flying High I thought I'd post this and encourage anyone whom hasn't seen this film to give it a go (on now on Ten)...it's a classic with brilliant dead pan humour...I never get sick of watching this movie.

I only got to spend about half an hour with him a few years ago but he made me feel like I had known him for years.
He was very short too which surprised me.
Yes, he will be missed.
