Talking Iceman's Scrapbooking :)

My wife Kate is into crafty things, she's done folkart, cross-stitching, mosaics and her latest interest is scrapbooking.

It's a great way to actually use some of the photos we've taken, print them out rather than leave them sitting on the computer, and design a page around it expressing your feelings and memories about that photo/event/time or place. Kate's page are (not surprisingly) girly type pages, with more photos of people, kids, family etc.

She asked me to do some scrapbooking with her, since she took an interest in astronomy and joined the forum recently

So I said "Why not", and gave it a shot. So last week I did 3 scrapbook pages!

It's a bit of fun, and I get to do some pages on some more "man-ly" subjects and use some of the landscape or arty type pictures i've taken.

It's also a good way to spend some quality time with the wife, and earn some serious brownie points so the next night I can go out observing until the early morning, guilt free

Here are the pictures of my scrapbook pages. They're 1024pixels wide so you can still see some of the detail, and they're about 130-140k each.

I know some other guys here have wives that are into scrapbooking, Rod and John B included.. anyone else's wife/partner into scrapbooking? Have you been roped into it yet?

You can get help for this problem Mike....The first step is taking responsibility for this weird and inherited women behaviour you have started here..

I like the idea but my wife does the pages for me...I have 2 pages so far with my very first week of Astrophotography......I yet to have the urge to actualy do it myself and admit to it...your a braver man then me.....lol

Good luck Mike...or is it Michelle.

Yeah, that's right Mike. My better half spends about half of our weekly budget (and time) on her scrapbooking (called affectionately in our house "crapbooking").

Like you, I got into the mood one night when "the girls" were over (about 5 women) and I created a page. I found some photos from a beach holiday that contained quite a significant amount of human skin (we had been skinny dipping), and cut out body parts (lots of legs, arms and bums) to form the word, "Flesh". Slightly creepy, but the girls really loved it!

Mike on your Blue Mntns visit did you get dragged into the scrapbooking center in Wentworth Falls, or maybe you suggested it.

My daughters into it and tries to find an excuse to go to the village 'shops' whenever they visit. The other thing she used to be into, I think it led to the scrapbooking was "Crafty Kids". Like Tupperware parties for kids crafty things.

Lyn and I were viewing the Lostock page last night and saw this thread. She's into scrapbooking and not much into astronomy (yet) so we had to have a look. She told me I should reply with "Don't make me have to hurt you..."

... but its all good fun!

Al.

Perhaps Mrs Iceman or Iceman could give a scrapbooking workshop at Lostock if its wet/cloudy, looks there could be a few takers.

What! You lowered yourself to doing 'Scwapbooking' and you didn't even use Astro photos!

You do need help

p.s. I would've typed this in Pink for you but it would've been to hard to read

You did a great job on those Mike.
"Goodonyou" I say. Anything that brings us closer to our wives must be a good thing.

Now that you scored some brownie points, looking forward to you staying up late at Kulnura with us next time.
Pizza and beer to all who stay till 3am.....
Coffee to follow at 4am.....

haha! What keeps me close to Cheryl is not touching her scrapbooking gear! I sat to watch her one night (just to show interest in her hobby) and she said "will you take your telescope outside and look at your stars & planets & stuff"

I can't win!

Not that they don't want us hanging around annoying them Ian, it's just that we hang around annoying them.

I'm all for doing hobbies together, Cheryl enjoys looking through my scope. But if I touch her scrapbooking stuff

Funny stuff guys, my wife likes me scrapbooking with her.. except she doesn't like me using all her good stuff - the embellishments etc.. It's all quite expensive stuff to buy.
