At the Back of Bourke

Hi Guys, well we made it to Bourke, havent really explored it yet but will do so later today and tomorrow, as we are staying at least two days, or more if it takes our fancy.

I hope to get a beautiful outback sunset tonight fingers crossed, there is just enough cloud to give it some effect, hopefully.

Anyway I will post some pics tonight it it all comes off.

You will be waiting a bit longer jen, it clouded over and that was the end of it, maybe today, but that doesn't look promising as we got that storm I posted about last night, it is pretty over cast this morning.

Anyway we will venture into Bourke today and see what the place has to offer.

Don't forget to pick up a couple of bottle of Back of Bourke Cola My kids love the stuff.

A good observation stop is the Byrock Hotel (about half way between Bourke and Nyngan)

Really great feed, accomodation (park or 3 x motel rooms) and nothing around for miles to spoil the views.

Cheers

Byrock is a little spot South of Bourke on Highway 71.

It is basically a Pub/Postoffice/Shop/Camping Park, with some van sites and 3 motel style rooms.

Spotless facilities, and the food and drink is the best around the area probably including Nyngan, Bourke and Cobar.

Most of the local farmers turn up there in the afternoon for a cold one and a yarn until past midnight.

Because there is only a couple of buildings and no town lights it is a great spot to setup for a few evenings observation.

Hi Leon,

Great to her you are enjoying your road trip.

When we were last out there, we took some time to pay our respects at the final resting
place of that amazing Australian humanitarian, Fred Hollows, out at the Bourke Cemetery.
