Damselfly Blues

So sensitive are these little blue jobs to movement, that I had quite a task trying to get close with the macro lens.

The diversity within a species in colour alone is breathtaking!

Nice captures Baz, natures answer to the FA-18.

I know what you mean about trying to get close to them. I've got hundreds around the dam all summer.

Soon as the camera appears they all get shy and suddenly disappear.

Cheers

They are an absolute wonder of perfection aren't they? I have been studying the musculature at the base of the wings, each one powerful, pitch control, independent steering and thrust....WOW!

Outstanding, the colours on the first one are great, think it's actually a maiden fly

I love damselflies. They're so delicate, and when mating the male and female's bodies make the shape of a love-heart. It's really beautiful.

Great shot - lovely focal plane with the first. I thought these were damsel flies?
