The New South Wales wheatbelt town of Trundle (60km NW of Parkes) is offering to rent out vacant houses for $1 a week to help "keep the town alive".
But the program comes with a catch, as people chosen will have to be prepared to help renovate some of the houses.
Mr Kerin says some of the houses on offer have not been lived in for 10 years, but others are almost perfect to be moved into.
