The Great Court

Hi all,

I had to go into work (at The University of Queensland) for a few hours this morning, and so I took my 50D in to try some images of the sandstone carvings in the Great Court. Here's the results. All taken using tripod, at 100 iso and f/16, exposures ranged from 1/13th to 1/40th sec. Some cropping, contrast adjustment and a bit of sharpening in the GIMP.

I'm pretty happy with how this lens is performing!

Nice clear detail Stephen. Using GIMP - did you use the EAW Sharpen tool?

Nice pictures, Stephen. I've been meaning to wander up there and take some pictures of the grotesques.

I used unsharp mask for these Rowland, but I've just downloaded the EAW sharpen plugin, and given it a bit of a test. It seems increase contrast while sharpening, at least with the default settings. Have you used it much?

Yes, I'd been meaning to for a long time as well. There is plenty to photograph in and around the Great Court!

Stephen. I have found EAW Sharpen particularly useful when used in local contrast. The thing I like about it, is that it doesn't affect colour noticeably. It gets a lot of use, but two applications at default settings is usually enough.
