A quick afocal Venus, 17th Oct 2010

Hi all,

I had the scope out looking at Venus about 1 hr before sunset this afternoon, and captured this hand-held afocal image with a little Cybershot compact camera. Nothing great, but the crescent is visible!
The seeing was terrible so I was a bit surprised how well this came out.

Cheers,
Stephen

That's pretty impressive considering it's daytime! Will have to try this sometime myself before the sun sets. Thanks for sharing

Pretty good result Stephen, considering the equipment used. Just goes to show that there is a wide range of cameras out there that can produce interesting astro images.

Regards
Trevor
